The organic curves formed within a rhythmic, repetitive structure bring a sense of movement and rhythm to the otherwise static nature of wood. The natural fiber rope tied around the center gathers the flowing lines together while accentuating the sculpture’s graceful, waist-like silhouette. The contrast between precisely crafted wood and the rustic texture of natural rope highlights the distinct qualities of the materials and creates a sense of sculptural tension. Originally conceived as a functional piece of furniture for cats, this work has evolved through an exploration of form and structure, suggesting new possibilities at the intersection of furniture functionality and independent sculptural expression.
