Rocking Chair Model A

This work is a contemporary reinterpretation of the organic furniture forms of Sam Maloof. Each component is designed for assembly and disassembly, allowing for ease of fabrication and transportation while highlighting the sculptural qualities of wood. Through the balance of structural strength and gentle rocking motion, as well as functionality and sculptural expression, the work explores the potential for everyday furniture to extend beyond its practical purpose and become an independent sculptural object.
